In the advent of recent and ongoing legislative and regulatory actions specific
to protecting the individuals right to privacy and information protection, such
actions have evolved into actionable laws, rules and regulations. Companies and
organizations look not only internally but also externally for expert advice and
council in developing policies, practices and procedures for administering and
adhering to such actions. A critical but key component to the overall process is
a periodic review of such policies, practices and procedures, which some
companies perform internally while other look externally for such services. The
unmistakable philosophy is one that all companies and organization should adopt
– that being – "Document what you do, do what you document, have a reliable and
credible independent professional service annually review such policies,
practices and procedures".
